There are four main communication styles or communication patterns. These patterns are: amiable, dominant, expressive, and analytical.
An amiable communication style is team-oriented and prefers to avoid conflict. These communicators are more likely to be quiet in groups and to heavily consider the opinions of others when making a decision. Read more about the amiable communication style here.
A dominant communicator is typically outspoken and opinionated. These communicators are very results-driven and prefer to spend their time on-task and focused to building relationships or discussing emotions. Read more about dominant communicators here.
An expressive communicator is very people-oriented and puts a lot of time and effort into building relationships. An expressive communication style is easy to spot as they are usually the loudest, friendliest, and most playful people in the room. Read more about expressive communicators here.
An analytical communication style is driven by data and takes a lot of time making decisions, allowing for extra research, double- and triple-checking information, and asking questions.
