Memorization-free communication training
It is generally accepted that in order to find success in the workplace you need to be able to communicate effectively with others. This has been a long-acknowledged necessity which is why there are hundreds (probably thousands) of schools of thought on how to be a better communicator — listen three times as much as you talk, give just enough detail to guide but not so much that you micromanage, match someone’s body language and vocal tone, and on and on. But the tips, tricks, and how-to’s are quickly forgotten once the workshop is over.
We look at communication training a little differently.
It’s not about memorizing processes or using a one-size-fits all generalization. Instead, our communication training focuses on understanding simple information about how and why people communicate a particular way, how to predict their communication patterns, and how to use logical temporary modifications to significantly accelerate the effectiveness of communication.
We aimed to create a program that took away rote memorization and that, in only a couple hours, would provide anyone with tools of understanding that were simple and intuitive to apply in day-to-day situations.
What is memorization-free communication training?
Memorization-free communication training isn’t about memorizing tips, tricks, and processes; it’s about truly understanding how different people communicate. With this basic and intuitive understanding, participants can apply the new knowledge in a variety of situations, professional or personal.
How are Communication Patterns determined?
Each participant begins the Connecting With People workshop by taking an iConnect Personal Communication assessment. This gives a detailed view into how he or she communicates including how they see themselves, how others see them, and how they communicate under pressure. This information gives each participant a baseline for understanding how they communicate naturally, while also preparing them with a mindset for being able to understand the communication patterns of others.
Instead of dozens of communication patterns to memorize or personality types to master, Connecting With People focuses on 4 basic Communication Patterns. Every person is usually a combination of two, and with a little background knowledge and practice, it’s easy for Connecting With People participants to easily discern at least the primary communication pattern of those they’re communicating with. The methodology behind these 4 Communication Patterns has been in development for over 30 years and over 2 million people have completed assessments. We’ve taken the information from that process and formulated it into a knowledge base that is simple and intuitive to apply.
How are Communication Patterns applied in a work setting?
During the Connecting With People training, participants take the basic understanding of their personal Communication Pattern and combine it with knowledge of the 4 primary Communication Patterns. This allows participants to easily discern the communication patterns of others and intuitively apply temporary behavioral modifications to communicate more effectively to better predict and manage outcomes.
